14 Pinoys repatriated

Mon Aug 10 13:43:18 CEST 2026 Timsen

14 Filipino crew members of the 'Acheloos' were assisted by Philippine authorities in Oman. The Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Muscat, in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Oman and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), facilitated the seafarers’ disembarkation, transportation, and repatriation to the Philippines. They safely disembarked at Shinas Port in Oman, before being transported to the Muscat International Airport on Aug 9 for their return flight home. Upon their arrival at the airport, MWO-Muscat and OWWA provided the Filipinos with meals and airport assistance and helped facilitate their departure. MWO-Muscat also coordinated with the seafarers’ manning agency and the vessel’s local agent in Oman to ensure the smooth processing of their disembarkation, transportation, and repatriation. They departed Muscat on Aug 9 aboard Qatar Airways flight QR1125 and took a connecting flight from Doha to Manila via QR932 on Aug 10. They were expected to arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 4:30 p.m. Report with photo: https://filipinotimes.net/latest-news/2026/08/10/14-filipino-seafarers-repatriated-after-missile-incident-involving-vessel-in-oman/

Iran attacked two Dynacom tankers

Tue Jul 21 09:24:52 CEST 2026 Timsen

On July 20, 2026, Iran attacked the ' Acheloos' north of the Musandam Peninsula. All crew members were safe, and all were accounted for. No pollution was reported. The vessel has proceeded to an anchorage, while assessments took place. The attack took place short time after the also Dynacom-owned product tanker 'Kavomaleas' was struck by an unknown projectile at a position near Kumzar, Oman. The tanker was hit twice and sustained a fire in the engine room, which could not be put out with the fixed firefighting system. The master then made the decision to evacuate the vessel. All crew members were safely located by Oman authorities and transferred to shoreOn the evening, the ship continued to burn, and it remained adrift in the strait. There was no sign of an environmental impact for the time being. UKMTO cautioned shipping to transit the area carefully. An investigation into the details of the attack was under way. Both ahips were owned by Dynacom, one of the most daring operators involved in the delicate trade through the Strait of Hormuz. Since the earliest days of the conflict, Dynacom has been quietly linked to transits through the waterway, consistent with its reputation for bold commercial decisions.
