Fire damaged Russian shadow tanker to be broken up
The 'Adalynn', following the collision with the tanker 'Front Eagle' (IMO: 9855343) near the Khor Fakkan Anchorage on June 16, 2025, which had caused a massive fire on board, which destroyed the superstructure, has been found beyond economical repairs and was towed to Gadani for recycling. It was beached at the Gadani Shipbreaking Yard in October. Previously, the shadow tanker had been involved in the export of Russian oil/oil products from the Baltic Sea port of Ust-Luga, as well as using deceptive practices such as disabling its AIS and conducting shady activities in the Kola Bay area in 2023 and 2024. The 'Adalynn' was part of the fleet of the Oceanpack Ship Management, which, is associated with private individuals in India who have built up a shadow fleet through several companies.Besides the Suezmax, also the 'Neer 1' has been sent for scrapping in Bhavnagar and dropped anchor in pos. 21° 42' N 072° 25' E. The shipbroker Pareto Securities stated that it was interesting that ships involved in the Russia-India trade are now being scrapped and pointed out that it was not surprising that the "Adalynn" was scrapped, also the "Neer 1", which is owned by unnamed players and has exclusively transported from Russia to India recently, will be broken up. Both ships were built in 2002. The 'Front Eagle' had berthed at the Yiu Lian Shekou Dockyards for repairs on July 27 and left the yard on Sep 2. On ct 3 it berthed at the Basrah Offshore Oil Terminal to take the first cargo again, and sailed on Oct 6 to Sikk, where it arrived on Oct 11 and unloaded its cargo until Oct 14, before returning to Basrah on Oct 18.
