Repairs in Le Havre completed
Repairs to the stern damage of the 'Aidaperla' at the quay in Le Havre finally took around 30 hours, which was longer than initially hoped, as a consequence of the survey of the impact area. The ship finally left the port on Sep 11 at 6.40 a.m. As a consequence, the scheduled calls in Zeebrugge and Rotterdam were cancelled, and the ship returned to Hamburg directly with a speed of more than 20 knots. It reached the port on Sep 12 at 9.30 a.m., and sailed again on Sep 13 at 12.35 a.m. with an ETA at the first port of call on the next cruise as of Sep 14. Costs for booked excursions in these two ports were refunded, and the passengers were promised a compensation.
Crzise ship broke lose from its berth and suffered breach in allision
On the afternoon of Sep 8, severe wind gusts with 75 knots speed caused the 'AIDAperla', carrying 4,160 passengers and crew members, which had arrived from Southampton, UK, and was en route to Zeebrugge, to break lose from its berth at the quay Perre Callet in Le Havre. The vessel turned 180 degress and drifted across the harbour basin, alliding with the quay with its stern. During the incident, the boarding gangway detached. Half of the approximately 4,000 passengers and crew members were on board. Timewise it was feared she could drift against the nearby 'Mein Schiff 3'. Three tugs rushed to assist and brought the ship under control; it was turned around and subsequently maneuvered back to the pier. At around 6:30 p.m., the cruise ship was once again securely moored. The scheduled departure at 7 p.m. had to be cancelled, and the ship remained stationary at the quay. It had sustained damage, notably to its hull, which was breached. Repairs were expected to take three days. The ship was undergoing a detailed inspection by technicians and authorities on Sep 9. The passengers had to prepare for a third day in Le Havre. Two ports of call—Zeebrugge/Brussels and Rotterdam—have been removed from the itinerary. The 14-day voyage included stops in Bergen, Nordfjordeid, Ålesund, Haugesund, Southampton, and Le Havre. Passengers were permitted to go ashore until the evening of Sep 10 in Le Havre. A gangway of the *AidaPerla* was destroyed during the incident in Le Commercial operations at the Port of Le Havre were suspended until further notice. At around 9 p.m., Haropa Port announced the gradual resumption of shipping traffic within the port and the boarding of passengers who had remained ashore. Medevac off Esbjerg
The 'AIDAperla' had to change course on July 19 due to a medical emergency. At around 10:00 a.m., the ship turned away from its route between Hamburg and Haugesund. A few nautical miles northwest of Esbjerg, the cruise ship was approached by a Danish SAR helicopter, which hoisted the patient and transported the person to a hospital as quickly as possible. For the safe transfer of the patient, some guest areas on the 'AIDAperla' had to be temporarily closed. Access to decks 16 to 18 and the Beach Club was temporarily restricted. After the disembarkation was completed, the decks were reopened to guests, and the 'AIDAperla' continued its voyage to Norway with a slight delay. This was expected to be compensated for by a higher cruising speed and should therefore have no major consequences. The ship was on a week-long cruise to the Norwegian fjords, departing from and returning to Hamburg.
