River cruise ship allided with multiple ships
On July 4, 2026, the river cruise ship ' Excellence Pearl' (MMSI: 269057195) headed almost straight for the quay at the Voormeer in Alkmaar and allided with the pleasure yacht 'Sortilège II' and the 'Amalia'. The river cruise ship had taken the bend in the canal near the Accijnstorentje (Excise Tower) too wide. The 'Amalia's mooring lines snapped, and the ship, in turn, allided with the small ferry 'Wal-Nood 2', which broke loose from the quay as well. The 'Amalia' sustained significant damage, including a dent in the stern, a twisted aft and a brnt rudder, along with the snapped mooring lines and a broken power cable. The damage was to be repaired in drydock. The 'Sortilège II' has also been hit hard, but the Municipality of Alkmaar was likely facing the most damage. The edge of the quay was displaced, mooring posts have been wrenched out of alignment, and the power supply unit was broken. The 'Wal-Nood 2' has also sustained damage. The 'Sortilège II' sustained significant damage at the stern, both from the allision itself and from the impact against the quay. The ' Excellence Pearl' proceeded to Amsterdam the same day.
