Fire inside lock

A fire broke out aboard of the 'Amira', enroute from Tiel to Oss, while the ship was moored in the Hintham lock of the Máxima Canal near Rosmalen, on the afternoon of June 1, 2026. Upon the arrival of the fire department, the fire was already out, but an hour after the report, the ship was still stuck in the lock. Rijkswaterstaat reports that there was not too much damage to the ship and that it could continue sailing. Because the ship was inside the lock, the Máxima Canal was blocked to all shipping traffic. Pedestrians and cyclists could not cross the Máxima Canal, as the lock gates they were open and the barriers were closed.
