Allision at Kutubia Anchorage sandwiched lighter
An allision at the Kutubdia Anchorage occurred on Sep 29, 2026. A lighter vessel was caught between two bulk carriers when they allided at Kutubdia anchorage at around 8:30 a.m., one of them being the 'APJ Shirin', which had arrived from Indonesia a week ago carrying around 55,000 tonnes of coal. A lighter vessel was moored alongside it to unload the coal, when the 'HG Sydney' (IMO: 9530670), carrying around 51,000 tonnes of soybean from Vila do Conde, allided with the 'APJ Shirin' while shifting position after weighing anchor. The lighter vessel was hit by the 'HG Sydney' and sustaining damage to its port sode hull. The empty lighter vessel moved away immediately after the impact, preventing it from becoming trapped between the two bulk carriers. The 'HG Sydney' sustained slight damage to its port side hull too. Both cargo ships were shifted to safe positions. The 'HG Sydney' moored in pos. 22° 16' N 091° 44' E, the 'APJ Shirin' in pos. 21° 49' N 091° 48' E.
