Shrimper suffered water ingress
On the morning of Sep 5, 2026, water flooded the engine room of the 'Apollo-WRE 1' in the port of Wremen near Bremerhaven. During the night, a mooring line from the trawler likely had become snagged at the pier. As the tide rose, the vessel started to list to the quay, causing water to wash onto the deck. Consequently, a large volume of water entered the engine room through an air vent located near the shrimp-boiling unit. The volunteer fire department in Wremen was alerted at 6.48 a.m. and pumped out the engine room, recovering approximately three cubic meters of oily water. As the possibility of the water being contaminated with oil could not be ruled out, the fire fighters pumped the water into IBC containers and deployed oil booms in the harbour basin as a precaution. No operational fluids leaked into the harbor waters. The trawler eventually floated freely again. Preliminary findings indicated damage only to a power generator unit. The Ship Safety Division of the BG Verkehr issued a detention order for the vessel until repairs have been completed and the necessary operational safety has beeb restored.
