Tanker damaged in drone attack
On Sep 10, 2026, the 'Armada Leader' was successfully attacked by Ukrainian drones near Sochi in the Black Sea. At least two struck the accommodation block and wheelhouse of the tanker, setting it on fire. A Russian helicopter had in vain tried to shoot down the attacking drones. The tanker had carried Russian petroleum products and sas sactioned by the EU, Canada, Ukraine and Switzerland. The strike on the Russian "shadow fleet" tanker was officially confirmed by Brovdi, commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces. The tanker was linked to a company that supplies fuel to Russia’s Ministry of Defense as part of the so-called "shadow fleet" that Moscow uses to circumvent restrictions on oil exports. The strike was part of the Unmanned Systems Forces’ MoLoChKa operation, aimed at disrupting Russian logistics in the Black and Azov seas, including oil exports and supplies to temporarily occupied Crimea. Captain of attacked ship still missing
The search for Oleg Vladimirovich Vygonnyy, the captain of the 'Armada Leader', was continued in the Black Sea. His relatives have asked for help with the search. The ship was attacked by an UAV on Sep 10 within the 12-mile zone in neutral waters near the coast of Abkhazia. The crew was evacuated, but the captain remained on board. The last thing the crew reported was that he ran toward the spot where the drone had just exploded. The ship was inspected on Sep 12, but Oleg Vygonnyy was not found. His relatives hoped that he might have left the ship on his own, entered the water, used a life raft, or reached the shore. To this day, the ship has not been brought into port, as there was no tug available, or due to issues with drones or other factors. The relatives asked for information via the Telegram bot @BloknotNvrsk_bot, by phone at +7 (988) 310-18-00, or via the chat in MAX.
