Stern punctured during failed docking manoever

Due to a medical emergency, the 'Ask R' had to call at the CTW in Wilhelmshaven on July 22, 2026. During the docking maneuver, which was conducted under the guidance of pilots, the vessel's bow drifted away from the pier, causing an allision of the stern with a mooring dolphin. A subsequent inspection of the hull revealed a hole of approximately 20 centimetres in diameter, about one meter above the waterline. The water police launched and investigation. No hazardous materials were released. and no one was injured. However, the Wilhelmshaven water issued a sailing ban after consultations with the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the Transport Sector - Ship Safety Division.
