On the evening of July 31,the Port Authority of Lavrio was informed by the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center (EKSED) of the Greek Coast Guard Headquarters that a 43-year-old Greek passenger of the 'Blue Star Paros' required immediate hospital treatment. The ship was on a scheduled route from the port of Piraeus to the port of Syros and sailed to the port of Lavrio, where it disembarked the patient. He was picked up by an ambulance and transported to the General Hospital of Attica, while the ship continued its scheduled route.
