Wittenbergen refloated and anchored

Fri Aug 07 09:51:55 CEST 2015 Timsen

The "Wittenbergen" was refloated in the evening of Aug 6 with the help of the tugs "Alexander 3" (IMO: 8903181), which had sent down divers to inspect the hull before, and "Appolon" (IMO: 7431806) and anchored off Aviemonas on Kithira island. The ship which had a crew of eight on board and was carrying 3,000 metric tons of steel plates had suffered slight water ingress in the forepeak, but there was no immediate danger. On Aug 7 the vessel was still at anchor in the same position with both tugs remaining on standby. Wessels-freighter grounded at Kythira

Fri Jul 31 09:27:25 CEST 2015 Timsen

The "Wittenbergen" ran aground in the morning of July 30, 2015, at the eastern tip of Kythira island in the Sea of Crete. The vessel suffered a small crack in the forepeak area and water ingress, which could be brought under control. The ship was en route from Gebze to Belfast with a crew of seven or eight on board and a cargo of steel coils. The Coastguard dispatched a salvage tug to refloat the ship.

Repairs completed, ship sailing again

Thu Feb 21 09:32:39 CET 2013 Timsen

The "Wittenbergen" left the port of Brake again on Feb 20 at 8.45 p.m. Next port of call is Foynes, ETA Feb 25, 5 a.m. The ship had been under repair at the North Pier in Brake since its collision with the Antigua-flagged cargo m/v "Helga" (IMO:8402577), on Feb 15 which docked in Teesport in the morning of Feb 20, coming from Bremen.
