Worker injured in collision on board Maritime Administration ship
A worker aboard the 'Cape Hudson', which has been docked at Pier 50 in San Francisco since Nov 2025, was hospitalised after the collision of a utility vehicle on the ship on Sep 5, 2026, at about 9:25 a.m. The San Francisco firefighters responded to the scene and provided first aid. The vessel is part of the Maritime Administration's Ready Reserve Force, which is a national program run by the U.S. Department of Defense, which calls upon ships in the Maritime Administration - which is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation - to be activated for trade and cargo purposes when needed for national security purposes. The ship was just transferred in late August to the possession of the American Maritime Officers, a shipworkers' union that was getting the ship ready for an upcoming regulatory inspection.
