Medevac off Puerto Madryn
On July 10, 2026, the Argentine Naval Prefecture (PNA) carried out a medevac from the 'Conara 1' in the Argentine Sea. The fisherman had suffered a medical emergency, experienced chest pain and difficulty in breathing while the vessel was sailing 187 nautical miles from the city of Puerto Madryn. The captain requested a medevac from the Maritime Traffic Management Center in Comodoro Rivadavia, after reporting the crew member's condition. Immediately, medical specialists from the national maritime authority conducted a radio consultation with the crew, provided initial medical instructions, and performed successive evaluations of the patient. Given the persistence of the patient's condition and following a medical consultation, an emergency air evacuation was ordered. To carry out the operation, a PA-41 helicopter from the Comodoro Rivadavia Air Station and a PA-25 airplane were deployed. The PA-25 provided support during the mission to reinforce the operation's safety. The captain was also instructed to change the ship's course towards Rawson to reduce the distance the aircraft had to travel. After reaching the ship's position, the helicopter performed the rescue maneuver using a rescue basket and safely hoisted the crew member, who was then transported to Trelew Airport. Once on land, medical personnel attended to the patient and transferred him to a hospital for specialised medical care.
