Houthi claimed strike on tanker
The Houthi-controlled Yemeni Armed Forces claimed to have targeted the 'Daisy' with a ballistic missile in the Gulf of Aden, 95 nautical miles southeast of Aden, on Aug 5, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. as part of its campaign to enforce a maritime blockade. They alleged that the strike had damaged the vessel and forced it to reverse course. The master of the 'Daisy' reported hearing multiple loud explosions 40 metres off the port side, which sent a shockwave to the vessel. The crew was reported to be safe and the tanker undamaged. The ship, which is owned by Saudi-based Bakri Navigation and managed by Jeddah-based Red Sea Marine Services, had left Fujairah on July 26 with Djibouti listed as its destination with an ETA as of Aug 6.
