Engines converted to run on HVO during repairs
Jadrolinija announced that all sailings with the 'Dalmaciha' have been cancelled until Jan 5, 2027. because of te ongoing technical problems. The ship suffered an engine failure in mid-August, which led to cancellations on her routes from Split to Ancona and Bari and from Dubrovnik to Bari. The yard stay has been extended so that the engines could be converted to run on HVO, while they were dismantled for repairs. The conversion had been planned for a later maintenance period, and some components have had to be sourced, which has added time. Passengers with bookings were to be compensated.
All sailings cancelled due to repairs and upgrades
On Oct 22, 2026, the ferry operator Jadrolinija announced that all sailings of the 'Dalmacija' have been cancelled until Jan 5, 2027, due to ongoing technical problems The cancellations affected the ferry services from Split to Ancona and Bari, as well as Dubrovnik to Bari. Customers who have already purchased tickets were to be compensated. The 'Dalmacija''s stay at the shipyard has been extended after the company decided to carry out additional technical modifications, while the vessel was undergoing repairs. The work involved adapting the ferry's engine to operate on HVO biodiesel, a renewable alternative to conventional diesel fuel. The upgrade had originally been scheduled for a future maintenance period, but with the engine already being dismantled for repairs, the company decided to complete both operations simultaneously. The modifications required additional time because specific components had to be sourced. Combining the repairs with the engine modernisation was regarded as both technically and financially justified.
Ferry suffered engine failure
The 'Oslofjord' encountered technical problems on Oct 6, 2019, and operator Fjordline therefore canceled all sailings between Strömstad and Sandefjord. The problems started when the ferry was preparing to leave the port of Strömstad with passengers and cars being already on board. The engines did not react, and all had to be unloaded again. The company called in technicians for repairs. All affected customers have been notified. The ferry left the port of Strömstad again after troubleshooting on Oct 7 at noon and arrived in Sandefjord at 2.30 p.m.
