Oil spill during bunkering ops

An oil spill occurred during bunkering operations between the 'Tianlong Spirit' and the 'Desna' in the Murmansk region on July 20, 2021. The Northern Branch of the Maritime Rescue Service responded to the spill in the Kola Bay at the LK Volga temporary offshore transshipment complex at the request of the shipowner company Sea Engineering LLC. The fuel oil spill occurred as a result of a ruptured fuel hose. About 1.400 litres of fuel oil were spilled overboard the 'Desna'. The anti pollution vessel 'Markab', the workboat 'MRK-1000' and the boom-handling boat 'MOB-20' were sent to conduct the oil clearance operations. They contained the spill by placing a duplicate boom around the vessel and collecting oil products and carried out additional treatment of the water area with the help of sorbents and environmental monitoring. The accidental oil spill in the water area of Kola Bay was successfully liquidated. The Transport Prosecutor's Office wilinvestigated the incident.
