Sun Sep 06 11:11:18 CEST 2026 Timsen

On Aug 17, 2026, the 'Elina B' was targeted in a drone attack. Despite being struck at the accommodation block and suffering severe damage, the vessel remained operational and continued sailing toward Turkey, carrying its own crew along with the 21 rescued seafarers from the 'Anna S' (IMO: 9207778), which had been abandoned after an attack 20 nautical miles off Novorossiysk five hours earlier. On Aug 19, the ship transited the Bosphorus and dropped anchor off Istanbul in pos. 40° 57' N 028° 51' E, where it remained stationary as of Aug 20. Rescued crew members to be disembarked

Sun Aug 23 08:33:21 CEST 2026 Timsen

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) was monitoring the Filipino seafarers affected by recent drone attacks in the Black Sea near Novorossiysk, Russia, as authorities and shipping representatives coordinated assistance and repatriation efforts. The 17 Filipino crew members of the 'Anna S' were confirmed safe as of Aug 22. The 22 Filipino crew members of the 'Elina B', which was attacked after assisting the crew of the 'Anna S' on Aug 17, were also confirmed safe and unharmed. One Filipino crew member from the 'Anna S' was receiving medical care in Turkey for a kidney condition. He remained in stable condition and was undergoing diagnostic procedures under the supervision of a nephrology specialist and medical team. The ship owner and its port team have provided assistance to the 17 affected crew members, including USD 300 each, mobile phones, clothing, footwear, toiletries, medicines, and other essential supplies. The phones were provided to help the seafarers maintain communication with their families. Coordination was also underway with the Philippine Embassy in Turkey and Turkish authorities to process the necessary travel documents and immigration clearances. The crew members were expected to disembark from the 'Elina B', which had dropped anchor in the Bosphorus Strait, before arrangements were made for their repatriation to the Philippines. The department continued to coordinate with concerned government offices, the Migrant Workers Office, the Philippine Embassy, and manning agencies to safeguard the affected seafarers and assist their families and would be monitoring developments until the crew members have been safely repatriated.
