The 268-TEU container barge "Elly", 3483 ts (EU-No.: 02326034), was berthed in Krems on May 6, 2013. It was to unload its cargo in Pischelsdorf and then return to the Netherlands for repairs after the ship had allided with a bridge over the Rhine-Main-Danube-Canal in Nürnberg on Apr 29 around midday. Due to a technichal malfunction the wheelhouse could not be lowered enough and hit the bridge at the Rothenburger St. around 1 p.m. The process stopped after only 30 centimeters. The wheelhouse was torn off, the cabins damaged as well as a car on the stern. The damage was assessed to be around 150.000 Euro. The master was slightly injured in the accident. The ship could still move to the side of the canal and thus did not affect traffic. On May 4 it was underway on the Danube at Kachlet after temporary repairs.
