Allision in Rønne

The 'Express 5' was forced to turn around after alliding with a pile on its way out of the port of Rønne enroute to Yatad on the morning of July 22, 2026. This resulted in cracks in the hull on the port side above the waterline. The ship was back at its berth at 7.15 a.m. The route between Ystad and Rønne continued to be served by the company’s other ferries, with the ' Povl Anker' being inserted. No one was reported to have been injured. A dive inspection found no damage underneath the waterline. The classification society approved the repair plan, and after the work was completed, the ferry was back operation on the morning of July 24 with a delay of 20 minutes. The ferry 'Express 1' took on board the passengers of the 'Express 5', which left the ferry berth shortly before 8 a.m. to make room The 'Express 1', which according to the sailing plan was to depart at 8:30 a.m., did not depart until around 9:30 a.m. as a result of the incident. Ferry delayed due to engine trouble

The 'Express 5' suffered engine problems on Aug 13, which have not yet been resolved as of Aug 15, and therefore the ferry was also sailing slower than usual, because only three of four engines were in operation. The 'Express 5' has been inspected by experts from the engine manufacturer Wärtsila, and replacement of the damaged pump was underway. It has also been decided to carry out an engine cleaning inside, which will be completed during the course of the day. Therefore, the 'Express 5' was expected to be back on four engines on the morning of Aug 16.

Ferry due to return before christmas traffic

The 'Express 5' is expected to be ready for deployment on the afternoon of Dec 17. An internal investigation has determined that it was human error that caused the ferry to hit the port facility on its way out on the last double trip of the day on Nov 25. The ferry subsequently had to turn around and disembark its passengers in Rønne again. While the 'Express 5' has been under repair, the 'Express 1' has served as the main ferry on the route.
