Trawler to be broken up in Ghent
The "Joseph Roty II" of the Compagnie des Pêches Saint-Malo, the last French vessel to have fished off Newfoundland, left its home port Saint Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine), being towed by the 'MT 20' and ' MT 29', on March 27, 2026, to be dismantled at the Galloo Group shipyard in Ghent. The ship departed from the port of Saint-Malo through the lock at 2:17 p.m. The factory trawler had been moored at the Duguay-Trouin quay since December 2023 and was moved on March 24 to the Vauban basin in preparation for its upcoming towing. The more favourable weather has finally allowed for the departure, initially planned for earlier this year. At the Galloo Group shipyard in Ghent also the 'Victor Pleven' had already been dismantled. Factory trawler put up for sale
The "Joseph Roty II" of the Compagnie des Pêches de Saint-Malo, has been docked in the port of Saint-Malo since December 2023. Since May 2024, the factory ship has been put uip for sale.
