SShip towed through Bosphorus after drone attack
The 'Great Ocean' arrived in the Bosphorus Strait on Aug 20, 2026, after having been damaged by a drone attack near the entrance to the Kerch Strait about a month ago. The crew had abandoned the ship following the incident. After the salvage operation, the vessel was towed across the Black Sea by the tug 'Ramazan Bay' (IMO: 7210824) to a positon off the coast of Istanbul. To ensure a safe passage, the Turkish authorities had temporarily suspended maritime traffic in the Bosphorus Strait in both directions, while several tugs from the Turkish General Directorate of Coastal Safety escorted and assisted the vessel, which was scheduled to be moved to a repair yard for the necessary inspections and repairs. There were no reports of fatalities or injuries among the crew members. Photos: https://forum-schiff.de/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=233399#p233399
