Wreck pulled further to shore
On oct 22, the work of pulling the 'Havella' by the contracted company Hydraulikk Finnmark closer to land was in full swing, using a period of good weather and the sea being at full tide. Berlevåg Maskin was providing the machinery, consisting of excavators and bulldozers, needed for this task. The wreck was now resting on its port side, showing the completely destroyed ship's bottom. Wreck to be cut up on the rocks
The insurance company Marine at Granne Insurance, responsible for the "Havella" in Berlevåg, which capsized in the shallow waters east of the breakwater at Berlevåg port, was preparing the removal of the wreck. After the Coast Guard was unable to pull the vessel off, it was pushed further and further in, where the rocks sticking up from the sandy bottom tore up the hull, so that the ship was declared a total loss. In recent days loose objects that have come off the ship, were removed, as well as some loose equipment. The entire port side has been demolished, so that debris from the interior was coming out and washing up on the shore. As a salvage from the sea was not considered as realistic, the wreck was to be pulled further up to be removed from land with local companies, The plan is to cut the 'Havella' apart where it is located. The Berlevåg based company Hydraulikk Finnmark, has taken on the task of removing the wreck. Workers have been able to attach a couple of proper straps to solid attachment points. The company has two crawler excavators, one of 15 and one of 26 tons. The strategy was to get hold of hydraulic shears that can be mounted on a crawler excavator and go down to the wreck position about 200 meters from shore. The wreck could be pulled upright on Oct 21.
