One fatality and one missing person were reported aboard the 'Hercules Star', which was carrying about two million barrels of Iraqi fuel oil, off the coast of the Dubai Peninsula following a drone attack on Sep 9, 2026, while it was anchored off the coast. The nature of the attack has not yet been officially confirmed. The remaining crew members have been rescued and were secure, while the search for the missing seafarer was continued by a specialised team, while the rest of the crew was reportedly safe. The vessel was anchoring 24 nautical miles off the United Arab Emirates' Port Rashid with a list, which was indicating water ingress following the impact of the projectile. It gradually went down by the stern.

The 'Hercules Star', enroute from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, was struck by an unknown projectile approximately 17 nautical miles northwest of Mina Saqr off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, on MArch 1, 2026. The attack occurred near the Strait of Hormuz at the entrance to the Persian Gulf. Further details regarding damage or casualties remained unclear at this stage.
