Damage during cargo operations
The 'Ibla' suffered a structural failure in the cargo hold and pertinent equipment during cargo discharge operations at Gebze on Feb 1, 2020. Repairs were to be carried out by the stevedore duty teams upon completion of discharge operations. The vessel sailed again on Feb 2 at 8.15 p.m., bound to Galati with an ETA as of Feb 5.
Ship in steady danger of disaster due to negligence
After the "Ibla" berthed in Monfalcone on Nov 10, 2015, the ship was detained after a PSC inspection, which found a number of deficiencies, including massive corrupted steel areas and structural deficiencies with a water leak in the engine room. The master and officers of the vessel were taken to court and charged with negligence, because the vessel was recognized as a danger to shipping, with a probability of disaster even in calm seas.
