Ferry suffered mechanical issues
The 'Iyanough', serving between Hyannis and Nantucket remained out of service on July 6, 2026, after all trips were already canceled on July 5 because of mechanical issues, the Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority reported. All scheduled trips were canceled for the remainder of thr day for repairs. Walk-on passengers on the traditional ferry were expected to be numerous, so the Steamship Authority advised them to plan accordingly. Tickets for the canceled trips on the Iyanough were refundable at one of the Steamship terminals or by calling the reservation office at (508) 477-8600 daily from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ferry sidelined due to crack in the hull
On Nov 12, 2025, the 'Iyanough' had to be removed from the service Hyannis-Nantucket, after a small crack was found in the vessel's aluminum shell. The crack was above the water line, but for safety reasons the vessel could not operate until repairs had been completed. The Steamship Authority sent engineering and maintenance staff works to repair the damage, but did not have an estimated return date for the vessel.
