Ferry suffered engine trouble off Milos
The "Kissamos", which was operating a scheduled route from Piraeus to Chania, suffered a technical failure on June 27 at 03:10 a.m., shortly after the ship's departure from the port of Milos with 1,246 passengers and 108 crew members on board. The ship suffered a temporary loss of propulsion, drifted into shallow waters near the port and ran aground. The Greek Coast Guard deployed a response team to the scene, and a diver conducted an underwater inspection of the hull. He found no damage, and after the crew had carried out repairs and restored the propulsion, the ship was successfully refloated under its own power and returned safely to Milos. After the arrival, it was banned from sailing until an inspection by the port authorities was completed. The operator ANEK Lines was in constant communication with the relevant authorities and would inform the passengers as soon as there were new developments regarding the resuming of the route.

The ferry was operating a scheduled route from Souda to Piraeus with 83 crew members, 710 passengers, 59 private vehicles, 80 trucks, eight buses and 13 motorcycles on board. The 1st Port Department, Tzelepi, of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, initially banned the vessel from sailing. After the damage was repaired, it allowed to continue on its route.
