Container ship lost man overboard

On Jan 6, 2026. the ' Luebeck', enroute from Malaga to Freeport (Bahamas) with an ETA as of Jan 10, issued a distress signal in the Atlantic Ocean. The vessel had lost one crew member overboard.

In the morning of Ott 6, the Rhodes Port Authority was informed that the 'Lübeck', en route from Limassol to Beirut, had rescued the three crew members of the sailing yacht 'Freedom' in the waters of Karpathos and was heading to the area of Archangelos off Rhodes in order to disembark them. A patrol boat picked up the castaways and transported them safely to the Rhodes port. They had to abandon ship while en route Montenegro where they were to receive a sufficient number of migrants in order to forward them to Italy. The Prosecutor ordered their arrest for participation in a criminal organization and causing a shipwreck. A preliminary investigation is carried out by the Central Port Authority of Rhodes.
