Tug refloated grounded oil rig

Tunisian maritime rescue units, using the 'Maktaris', successfully refloated the oil platform Ocean Valiant', which had run aground off the coast of El Houichet on the night of January 12, 2025, after breaking lose from the tug 'Rota Salvor-SPM Neel Pratab 180' (IMO: 7931894). The operation, conducted jointly by the services of the Office of Merchant Marine and Ports, the Coastal Protection and Development Agency, the Maritime Guard units, and the National Navy, was made possible by the mobilisation of significant logistical resources and specialised personnel. The platform was then handed over to a commercial tug, whose technical team planned to carry out the necessary repairs at sea, while simultaneously regularising its status with the Tunisian authorities, before being authorised to leave territorial waters for a Turkish port.
