Man died when falling several decks deep

Tue Aug 25 18:18:05 CEST 2026 Timsen

On Aug 23, 2026, a man fell from a stateroom balcony on deck 10, 11 or 13 of the 'Norwegian Getaway' onto the deck 8port-side walkway and died. Before, the man was seen leaning over the rail and then lifting his legs to go completely over the balcony railing. Guests have noted the man had appeared intoxicated earlier in the evening shortly before the incident, claiming he may have gotten into a fight and swung at another guest before returning to his stateroom. It was not confirmed whether the two incidents involve the same individual. The cruise ship had departed Port Miami on Aug 21, 2026. As the ship was making its way back to Florida after visits to Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay, the incident occurred between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m. on the last night of the 3-night weekend cruise. An emergency announcement came over the PA. Crew members then gathered around a tarp spread out on the deck and covering a significant space. Cruise had several itinerary changes

Fri Jul 22 11:08:24 CEST 2022 Timsen

Passengers aboard the 'Norwegian Getaway' were facing several itinerary changes, which were reported when the ship had already sailed. The first port of call, Norwegian Cruise Line's private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay, was shortened by an hour, complicating tours on land. The next stop, which was to have been St. Thomas, was removed without replacement. In the third, San Juan de Puerto Rico, the departure was brought forward from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. And the one that was the final port of the original itinerary, Amber Cove, in the Dominican Republic, was brought forward two days. The last two days of the itinerary are scheduled to be sea days, with the ship arriving back in Port Canaveral on Saturday, July 23, 2022. Shore tours that had been booked for St. Thomas were automatically canceled and refunded, while the date and time of shore tours at Amber Cove were also adjusted. No explanation was given for the multiple adjustments or the loss of the port of call, other than "unforeseen circumstances" indicated in a letter.

Medevac in Thira

Sun Oct 10 20:06:47 CEST 2021 Timsen

The Port Authority of Thira was informed on Oct 9, 2021, at noon that a 71-year-old passenger of the 'Norwegian Getaway' needed to be transported to hospital due to illness. The 'Taxiarchis D' picked up the patient and sailed to the Athinios Port from where an ambulance transported him to the Central Polyclinic of Santorini for medical treatment, while the ship continued its voyage from Mykonos to Neapel.
