Detention in Puerto Quequén
The 'Ocean Royal' was detained in Puerto Quequén on Oct 6, 2025, after having anchored off the port since end of September, en route from San Lorenzo, by order of Federal Court No. 1 of Necochea, presided over by Judge Bernardo Bibel, due to a multimillion-dollar debt for unpaid towage services. The seizure was requested by Aerospace Cargo S.A., which is demanding payment of overdue invoices from a local maritime agency that manages the vessel. The Aerospace Cargo S.A. filed a complaint for a debt exceeding one million dollars, related to towage services for this and 24 other vessels. The Argentine Naval Prefecture executed the seizure order at the Quequén dock, preventing the vessel from departing. The objective was to guarantee payment for the claimed services and protect the rights of creditors. The vessel was loaded with soybean pellets for export. This incident was part of a broader situation of financial non-compliance by the maritime agency, raising concerns among other port operators.
