Ferry suffered engine malfunction

The 'Prinses Máxima', serving between Flushing an Breskens experienced a malfunction on the morning of July 14, 2026. It was scheduled to depart at 10:18 a.m. However, during startup, a malfunction was discovered in the engine, and the ship was therefore taken out of service. Normally, two ferries shuttle across the Westerschelde between Vlissingen and Breskens on weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. every half hour, which had to be extended to one hour until around 11:30 a.m., when the problem was resolved, and both ferries were able to sail again.

On May 14, 2019, and in the morning of May 15, 2019, the "Pinses Maxima" was out of service due to a technical malfunction. In the afternoon of May 14 the ferry was taken out of service due to a broken fuel pump. Early next morning it appeared that that problem had not yet been resolved in spite of repairs carried out during the night, which seemed to have gone well. After the first trip there turned out to be a leak again. At 8.15 a.m. the problem was resolved and the schedule Flushing-Breskens was resumed another time.
