Fishing vessel sank at its dock

The 'Quaker Maid' has sunk at its berth at the Fishermen’s Terminal in the port of Seattle on Jan 22, 2026. Only the masts and a part of the wheelhouse were still protruding above the water surface. The ship was resting on its port side. The Washington Department of Ecology, along with the United States Coast Guard. reported that more than 3,500 gallons of an oily water mixture have been recovered. A containment boom and sorbents were placed around the vessel as it was sinking, capturing the majority of the spill. The Washington Department of Ecology monitored further cleanup and recovery efforts. A light sheen was visible around the area of the sinking, but it was deemed non-recoverable.
