IRCG turned back tankers
The IRGC Navy turned back the 'Sea V' on Aug 19, 2026, highlighting that, unlike the attacks on the UAE tankers in recent days, they opted to issue a warning in the case of this vessel. On the whole, two China-linked tankers aborted outbound transits of the Strait of Hormuz within a 24-hour period. One of the tankers was identified as the 'Sea V', which was coming from Iraq and anchored near the entrance to the Strait from the Persian Gulf. The Hong Kong-flagged 'Hestia' aborted the voyage at the entrance into the Persian Gulf and moored at the Khor Fakkan anchorage. The Hong Kong-flagged 'Erecter' also anchored in the Persian Gulf near the Strait, seeming not to attempt an exit. Two tankers associated with South Korea’s Sinokor, however, appeared to make the transit via the southern route: The 'V Prosperity', registered in Liberia, entered the strait in dark mode and was anchored off Dubai. The 'Singapore Prosperity', also registered in Liberia and managed by Sinokor, appeared to have made a dark exit and anchored off Fujairah.
