Ship partially sank in Hereke
On July 31, the 'Sefora' suffered water ingress at its mooring in Hereke Port in the Körfez district of Kocaeli and partially sank while moored at the dock. Water began leaking into the vessel's stern, causing the rear section to become submerged. Turkish Coast Guard teams and relevant authorities immediately responded to the scene, implemented safety measures and initiated technical inspections. There were no signs of fuel leakages so far. Assessments are underway in preparation for refloating the vessel and towing it from the site. The cause of the incident remained unknown, and competent authorities launched investigations. The 'Sefora' belongs to the Yılport Rota Gemi Company and was recently put up for sale as part of an enforcement proceeding.
