Medevac off Nha Trang

On June 10, 2026, at 2.47 p.m. LT the Vietnam Maritime Rescue and Rescue Center (VMRCC) was alerted to assista crew member of the Sky Pride' who had a critical health problem, while the ship was enroute from Ho Chi Minh City to South Korea, sailing the waters of the Khanh Hoa province. The 58 year old Filipino seafarer was suspected of having suffered a stroke and showed dangerous symptoms such as paralysis on the left side of the body, dizziness and high blood pressure. The VMRCC maintained close contact with the captain of the vessel and coordinated with the Nha Trang Port Authority, Khanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard Command, Nha Trang Border Guard Station and the shipowner's representative in Vietnam to medevac the patient. The SAR vessel 'SAR 273', which was on standby in the southern Nha Trang area, was dispatched at 3:50 op.m. and rendezvoused with the container ship at 4:50 p.m. Rescuers were transferred abiard, administered first aid, assessed the patient's health, and transferred him to the rescue ship for transport ashore. At 6:20 p.m., the SAR vessel safely disembarked the patient at the pier in Nha Trang. He was handed over to relevant authorities and taken to a hospital in Nha Trang for further emergency care and specialised treatment.
