Four crew members rescued after ship sank

The "Sueño Real", with four people on board, capsized and sank in the waters of the Aysén Region on June 17, 2026, while navigating the Scorpion Channel en route to the port of Quellón, in the Los Lagos Region. The crew managed to abandon ship and was rescued by the motorboat "Agustina", which was operating nearby. The Port Captain of Melinka, upon receiving the alert, launched a response operation and dispatched a unit to the area. Likewise, personnel from the Melinka Rural Health Post arrived to assess the health of the castaways. After the medical examination, it was confirmed that they were in good condition and without injuries. During the preliminary investigation, the Maritime Authority discovered that both the "Sueño Real" and the"Agustina" were operating without a valid sailing permit and without the certificate of seaworthiness required by maritime regulations.
