Ferry and cruise ship responded to burning fishing vessel
On the afternoon of Oct 18, 2026, the 'Superspeed 1', enroute from Kristiansand to Hirtshals, and the cruise ship 'AIDANova' (IMO: 9781865), enroute from Kiel to Bergen, responded to the burning fishing vessel. Rescue helicopters were sent out from both Norway and Denmark. The helicopter from Sula was on scene at 3.23 p.m. The JRCC for Southern Norway coordinated the response. The fishermen were taken on board a light boat from the cruise ship at 3.30 p.m. None of them were injured. They stayed aboard the 'Aidanova' on its way to Bergen, where it arrived on Oct 19. The 'Superspeed 1' was released after the intervention of the 'AIDANova' and reached the port of destination with a delay of 1,5 hours. Although the incident took place in Norwegian waters—with the Norwegian coastal rescue service leading the operation—the Danish Defence also contributed to the rescue mission and deployed one of the helicopters involved. The empty liferaft was recovered and taken ashore. Color Line ferries down due to network error
All Color Line ferries, including the 'Superspeed 1' and 'Superspeed 2', serving from Kristiansand and Larvik to Hirtshals, were down on the afternoon of Jan 5, 2026, due to a network error. On there evening, there still were network problems, but it was switched to manual procedures. They did not have internet access and could not check in the passengers. It has been resolved manually on the 'Color Fantasy', bound from Oslo to Kiel. While staff of the Color Line has found the network error, it was still working on fixing it. The 'Superspeed 1' left the dock in Kristiansand after 343 people and 120 passenger cars were checked in. The staff has not been able to get cargo on board, so there were 15 trailers that were not coming with the sailing to Hirtshals. The ferry was originally supposed to set sailat 4:30 p.m., but did not sail until 7:14 p.m. The 'Superspeed 2' was due to sail at 5:30 p.m. from Larvik, but just before 6:00 p.m. no cars had been allowed to drive on board. Ferry suffered thruster trouble
During the weekend of Aug 23/24, 2025, the 'Superspeed 1' needed assistance when both arriving and departing in Hirtshals enroutefrom Kristiansand. The ferry was experiencing problems with the thrusters, which was making it difficult to maneuver and especially to turn around in the harbour. To ensure that the ferry could complete its maneuvers safely, the Hirtshals Rescue Station deployed the lifeboat 'Margrethe Gaardbo' on both days, which helped the 'Superspeed 1' when it had to turn, so that both arrival and departure could be completed without problems.
