Firm threatens action against malicious claims regarding Thor
The management of the Sub-Sea 9 Ocean Services Limited has criticised the recent allegations concerning the 'Thor'. The firm, in a statement by its company secretary, Ishabor Paul, took issue with the malicious claims of unlawful seizure, detention, and vandalism levied against organisation’s staff: “While we acknowledge the confidentiality agreements in place regarding the MT Thor vessel, we are unable to provide specific details this time due to contractual obligations and confidentiality requirements that much be carefully considered and handled. All parties involved in the matter are aware of the Charter Agreement which clearly states that Bulk Oil Ship and Store (BOSS), formerly known as Nujenix, as the owner of the vessel, is responsible for the provision of crew, repairs, renewal, and insurance of MT Thor. The documents also absolve Sub-Sea 9 Ocean Services Limited of damages to the vessel, including any willful actions carried out by the crew. While we are committed to resolving the issues at hand, we demand that BOSS, (formerly Nujenix) withdraw the petition filed against Sub-Sea 9 Ocean Services Limited and its officials, provide compensation for damages caused by the false and malicious allegations and adhere to the dispute resolution process outlined in the agreements. Failure to comply with these demands will leave us with no choice but to seek legal action to protect our reputation and interests.” Regarding the issue of non-payment of agreed fees, the firm clarified that the transactions details were clear, and the Sub-Sea 9 Ocean Services Ltd. has never defaulted on any contractual obligations. They strongly refuted particular umbrage with the allegations of complicity with the Nigerian Army, which were said to be baseless and unfounded.
Nujenix Corporation accused the Nigerian Army of complicity in alleged illegal seizure, concealment and dismantling of tanker
The US-based shipping company NUJENIX Corporation has accused the Nigerian Army of complicity in the alleged illegal seizure, concealment and dismantling of the 'Thor' currently located at Koko, Warri axis of Delta State. The company, owned by an Israeli-American citizen, Mr Eial Golan Yachiel, made the allegation in Abuja on Dec 17, 2025, where it also petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, seeking urgent intervention over what it described as criminal acts, threats to life and obstruction of police investigation. The Nigerian lawyers, Mr Peter Onucheyo and Mr S.D. Omede, accused soldiers of the Nigerian Army of providing armed cover for the vessel after it was allegedly stolen by the Nigerian businessman John George Igor, and subsequently hidden at a private jetty in Koko. According to the lawyers, the NUJENIX Corporation entered into a bareboat charter party agreement on Jan 1, 2021, with the Sub-Sea 9 Ocean Services Ltd., a company allegedly operated by Igor, for the use of the the tanker, which is registered in the State of Florida. Under the terms of the agreement, Igor was required to pay the sum of $912,500 every six months. However, the NUJENIX Corporation alleged that he defaulted on the agreement after paying just $25,000 and subsequently disappeared with the vesse, failing to meet his contractual obligations. He stopped answering calls and threatened that their client would be kidnapped or killed if he travelled to Nigeria, forcing the vessel owner to remain outside the country for fear of his life. Following months of search, the NUJENIX Corporation was eventually informed by its agents that the vessel had been traced in Koko, where it was concealed at a jetty operated by the Ebenco Global Link Ltd., a company linked to one of the suspects, Oluwagbemiga Ebenezer. The company alleged that the suspects began cannibalising the 'Thor', stripping it of vital navigational, bunker and operational equipment, rendering it no longer seaworthy and leaving a damage beyond repair. After officers of the Nigeria Police Force, who were investigating the matter. traced the vessel, they commenced efforts to tow the carcass to a safe location for preservation and further investigation, but they crossed by a Nigerian Army gunboat led by Lieutenant Colonel Mustsoha Garba, who hijacked the vessel from the custody of Nigerian Marine Police personnel who were on lawful duty. Soldiers were deployed to guard the vessel at the Koko jetty, effectively preventing the police from carrying out their investigation. The intervention was allegedlya orchestrated by Mr. Ebenezer, who claims ownership of the jetty where the vessel was moored. According to the lawyers, the matter has now escalated beyond a contractual dispute and is about threats to life, unlawful detention, intimidation and the use of force to obstruct justice. Onucheyo further alleged that after court processes were initiated, army personnel again intervened to prevent the police from effecting arrests at Koko. In its petition dated Oct 21, 2025, the NUJENIX Corporationurged the Inspector-General of Police to urgently intervene, citing the alleged involvement of armed personnel and threats to the life of its owner and agents.
