Tank barge hit landing stage

On Sep 27, 2026, at around 10 a.m., the landing stage of the Cologne-Düsseldorf passenger shipping company on the Rhine at river km 636,8 in Unkel, near Bonn, was torn from its moorings after it was hit by the 'Valentino', enroute from Antwerp to Koblenz. It plunged approximately four meters to the Rhine riverbank. The landing stage was still secured with two chains. Because of this, and because the water level was currently low, there was no danger of it drifting away. The landing stage has since been recovered from the water and secured. As soon as the Rhine level rises again, the landing stage was to be salvaged with a crane. The hull of the tanker suffered only slight damage. It was moving almost parallel to the landing stage and then grazed past it. No one was injured in the accident. According to the investgations of the police, a driving mistake of the master was behind the accident.
