Collision with tanker near Stockholm

On Oct 23, 2026, the 'Vaxö', enroute from Vaxholm to Stockholm with 22 passengers on board, collided with the tanker 'Fandia Swan' (IMO: 806706), enroute from Rotterdam towards the Kiel Canal, off Gåshaga on Lidingö in the Stockholm archipelago, close to Hasseludden, at around 6:30 p.m. The tanker reported good visibility and stated that they attempted to attract attention, but were unable to make contact with the Vaxholm ferry. No one was injured in the collision, and the ferry, which had suffered significant damage to the bow visor, was able to proceed under its own power to Slussen in Stockholm to disembark its passengers via the aft deck. The Swedish Coast Guard and the maritime police have initiated preliminary investigations. The tanker dropped anchor pending the investigation and was attended by the patrol boat 'KBV 311'.
