Fire in wheelhouse injured one crew member

A fire broke out in the wheelhouse the 'Victoria', while she was sailing in the Prinses Arianehaven near Maasvlakte in Rotterdam on Nov 7, 2025, being thus inaccessible to shore-based fire engines. The ship's crew initially attempted to extinguish the fire themselves. One person was injured and was brought to the quay by a lifeboat of the KNRM. There, the victim was hoisted off the boat on a stretcher by a fire department aerial platform and taken to the hospital by ambulance. The rest of the crew was evacuated by a Port Authority boat. Among others, the 'RPA 14' and 'RPA 16' were present. A Port Authority fireboat picked up fire fighters of the fire department at the quay and transferred them to the ship, where they were able to extinguish the fire. The tanker was berthed at the Antarctica Way.
