Current LNG freight dynamics are being driven by a tight East-of-Suez market, led by strong Middle East loadings and sustained pull into India and Northeast Asia, which is keeping spot rates at a premium and vessel utilisation high.

The US Gulf remains more balanced, with flexible intra-Atlantic demand and optionality to Europe capping upside but providing steady employment. Africa is showing mixed signals, with developing requirements offering optionality rather than structural tightness, while Australia continues to act as a volume market with comparatively competitive rates due to broader tonnage availability.

The net impact is a widening East–West rate differential, reinforcing voyage optionality value and favouring modern, fuel-efficient tonnage in premium trading areas.
