Stocks of gasoil and diesel being stored in ARA drew down for the second consecutive week, according to the latest set of Wood Mackenzie flight data in the region. GO/ULSD cargo shipping activity in the ARA region had forecast a very similar modest stock draw over the same time period, a decrease in inventories of just over 30 KMT.
Cargo loadings of GO/ULSD from ARA to other NW European ports have been slightly in excess of cargo import totals into ARA in recent weeks, with ARA arrivals averaging around 178 KMT per week, ARA departures around 221 KMT. Barge outflow of GO/ULSD from ARA to the inland Rhine market has been subdued in recent weeks, not helped by low Rhine water levels limiting barge operators’ ability to load to over half of maximum capacity to Upper Rhine destinations and pushing ARA-Rhine freight rates sharply higher, according to brokers.
Wood Mackenzie tracks global product tanker activity – including ARA GO/ULSD cargo activity – in its European Waterborne Products Report, with ARA-Rhine barge activity tracked in the Daily and Weekly Rhine Reports.
