Allision off Chittagong

The 'Akij Wave', which was moored at the Alpha Anchorage area of Chittagong port’s outer anchorage after its arrival from Port Klang, dragged its anchor due to a strong current on Sep 29, 2026, at around 11:30 a.m. Despite efforts, the vessel could not maintain control against the current and allided with the bulk carrier 'Sea Alison' (IMO: 9392729), which had come from Constanta, and suffered slight damage to the port side bow above the waterline, while scraping along the starboard side of the 'Akij Wave'. It was a minor contact, and both vessels were shifted to safe positions. The 'Sea Alison' anchored in pos. 22° 15' N 091° 42' E, the 'Akij Wave' in pos. 22° 16' N 091° 45' E. Cleared for entrance after the death of officer caused by malaria

Second officer of the Bangladesh bulk carrier Akij Wave died of malaria on Nov 6 2012 on board of the vessel docked in Dneprobugskiy port, Ukraine. Vessel was directed to the quarantine road of Sevastopol port, Crimea, and declared under quarantine. On Nov 27 vessel and crew were found safe and cleared for entering Sevastopol port.
