Wed Sep 09 16:58:24 CEST 2026 Timsen

On Sep 8, 2026, at 01:36 a.m., the 'Amalthea', enroute from Le Havre to Lisbon, and sailing approximately 58 nautical miles off the coast of Ouessant (Finistère), reported a propulsion failure to the CROSS Corsen, and stated that it was drifting southeast. Following consultations with the crew, the vessel informed the CROSS that it was unable to maneuver. In coordination with the Atlantic Maritime Prefecture, the ship owner explored options for towing the vessel under a commercial agreement. A towing contract was subsequently concluded between the ship owner and the operator of the emergency tug 'VB Abeille Bretagne'. At 4 p.m. the tug informed the CROSS, that it was commencing towing operations for the container ship to the Bay of Douarnenez, where it anchored in pos. 48° 11' N 004° 28' W.
