Allision in Diakofti

On the afternoon of Feb 24, 2026, upon the arrival of the 'Aqua Jewel' at the port of Diakofti, Kythira, enroute from Piraeus, the unloading process of the ship was interrupted due to the adverse weather conditions prevailing in the area. When the ferry attempted a new approach to the port, the port side stern allided with the pier where during the mooring operations. The ferry suffered a dent above the waterline. After safe mooring, the disembarkation of 63 passengers and the unloading of eight private cars, eight trucks and one motorcycle were completed. Due to the adverse weather conditions, the ship's stay in the port was deemed unsafe. and it sailed for the port of Kissamos, Chania, where the Kissamos Port Station issued a sailing ban after the arrival, until a certificate of seaworthiness was presented by the monitoring classification society.

Ferry participated in rescue operation

The 'Aqua Jewel' participated in a rescue operation in Kythira on Oct 5, 2022, at 8.45 p.m. A vessel was in danger near the port of Diakofti, Kythira Prefecture. At around 5 p.m. a patrol boat rushed to the spot. At 9.08 p.m. the distressed boat hit a rocky steep area and remained semi-submerged.

Cable of ramp broke

The Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed in the morning of May 24, 2022, by the Captain of the 'Aqua Jewel' that during the process of removing the left car ramp for control procedures before its departure from port, a cable broke. The Port Authority initially prohibited the departure of the ferry. After conducting an inspection and presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the classification society, it was allowed to continue its scheduled route to the ports of Kythira and Kissamos.
