Water ingress on the Rhine

Thu Dec 04 10:54:52 CET 2025 Timsen

The Rheinberg Water Police and Fire Department were alerted on Dec 2, 225, after the 'Blue' had suffered water ingress, after striking a groyne, on the Rhine near river kilometer 794, en route from Tuindorp with a cargo of steel coils. The ship was able to dock at the nearest port, the Orsoy Rhine Port, which is operated by Niag. To control the incoming water, the fire department immediately deployed submersible pumps and stabilised the situation. Thanks to the swift and coordinated action of all forces, further danger was prevented. The ship and the damage were inspected to determine the next steps, including whether the ship would have to be repaired on site or proceed to the port of Duisburg, to where it proceeded on the evening ogf that day and remained stationary as of Dec 4. The captain had to pay a fine. Report with photo: https://www.msn.com/de-de/nachrichten/panorama/frachtschiff-nach-havarie-auf-dem-rhein-besch%C3%A4digt/ar-AA1RzB28?ocid=Peregrine
