Ferry ran aground off Værøy

The "Bodø" ran aground on April 29, 2026, at 04:00 a.m. just outside Værøy in Lofoten, while approaching Værøy. There were wind speeds of 14 meters per second and a wave height of 1-2 metres. There has been no water ingress or pollution. The ferry got off the ground under its own power. There were 23 passengers and 12 crew on board. No injuries have been reported. The NSSR lifeboat "Det Norske Veritas" from Ballstad and a Coast Guard vessel were sent to the scene. The ferry had steering problems after the grounding and needed assistance to be able to dock. A diver was called to assess the damage underwater.on the evening, the 'Bodø" was sailing towards Nesna with an ETA as of April 30 and would probably have to be docked for repairs. There could be trouble for Torghatten considering the start of the summer routes on May 18, where three vessels are required for the route. The ferry is operated by Torghatten and sails on the Bodø-Værøy-Røst-Moskenes ferry route. On its website, the shipping company notified customers that there would be cancellations to the service. Ferry suffered technical error

After the "Bodø" encountered a technical error and was sidelined in Bodø on July 25, 2019, at 2 p.m., the operator Torghatten Nord AS had to cancel some sailings. The departures from Bodø at 3 p.m., from Moskenes at 7.30 p.m. and from Værøy at 8.45 p.m. were cancelled. The ferry "Værøy" covered the night departure from Moskenes at 12.15 a.m., call at Værøy with a departure at 01.45 a.m. before the ferry arrived at Bodø at approx. 04.45 a.m. The "Bodø" left Bodø after repairs on July 26 at 7.10 a.m. and called at Moskenes at 10.45 a.m.

Ferry service interrupted

The ferry service Bodø-Værøy-Røst-Moskenes had to be suspended on June 19, 2014, at 4.30 a.m. after the "Bodø" had suffered technical problems and had to return to Bodø. The departured from Moskenes at 08.15 a.m., from Værøy at 09.45 a.m. and from Røst at 11.30 a.m. were cancelled accordingly.
