On July 6 the cargo m/v "Crown Mary" (IMO: 9466219) arrived at the grounding site of the "Raba" off Liepaja. After a part of the cargo was discharged onto the vessel which had sailed from the Swedish port Ahus on July 5 at 4.30 p.m., the bulkcarrier could be refloated and anchored nearby for inspections. The ship has left the anchorage off Liepaja on July 11 and was proceeding towards the Netherlands. It was expected at Maas pilot on July 13, 10 a.m. and docked in Dorddrecht. Grounding off Liepaja

Thu Jul 05 09:40:15 CEST 2018 Timsen

On July 4, 2018 the 'Raba' ran aground short time after having sailed from the port of Liepaja at 2 p.m. The accident happened close to the southern breakwater. No leaks or serious damages were reported. The ship had veered out of the fairway and then got stuck by yet unknown causes. The Latvian tugs 'Tak 1' (IMO: 7403196), 'Tak 5' (IMO: 7237262), 'Tak 7' (IMO: 9166534) and 'Namejs' were deployed to refloat the ship. They tried to pull it off for three hours, but to no avail. On July 5 it was still stuck off the port in pos. 56° 31.87' N 020° 56.61' E and would have to be lightered.
