Inland vessel knocked off wheelhouse in allision
The 'Dione', enroute from Minden to Bremerhaven, alllided with a bridge at kilometer 123.37 on the Mittelland Canal on the morning of May 14, 2026, near Pollhagen. No one was injured. The water police were notified of the accident at approximately 8:15 a.m., which occurred near bridge number 160. The wheelhouse was apparently not lowered in time, resulting in the allision. The impact destroyed the wheelhouse, which fell onto a car, which was parked on the aft deck. An emergency stop was triggered, rendering the vessel unmaneuverable. With the assistance of a passing inland vessel, the damaged ship was subsequently towed to the nearby Pollhagen port and safely moored there. The bridge also sustained some material abrasion. The damage to the inland vessel was estimated at approximately 400,000 euros.. Discussions were taking place there regarding how the containers could now be transported to Bremerhaven, the ship's destination. Allision on the Hunte
On July 8, 2019, at 5.30 p.m. the "Dione", 1338 ts (EU-No.: 4000530; MMSI-No.: 211458150; CS: DB9898), allided with the Cäcilien Bridge on the Hunte when the bascule bridge was lifted 1,6 meters. The wheelhouse had been lowered, but the ship, however, did not fit. Also the car of the master which was stored on deck was severely damaged. The vessel berthed off the lock at the Westfalen Dam after the accident. The police found out that the master had misjudged the height and did not lower the wheelhouse enough so that it hit the bottom of the bridge, suffering significant damage. The "Dione" had sailed from Bremerhaven to Dörpen at 12.45 p.m. with a cargo of containers. Grounding on Harriersand
On Feb 1, 2013, the "Dione" ran aground at Harriersand on the Weser. The ship was underway from Minden to Bremerhaven, when it got stuck at the northern tip of the river bank. Help was soon at hand and the ship was pulled off by a tug. It returned to Brake in the afternoon and docked ath the Niedersachsen Quay for investigations at 7.30 p.m.
